The Prayer Garden was a source of power and serenity for me. I went to the creek, laid my troubles and sins in my hands, and placed them in the creek, letting the Lord wash them away. I haven't felt this good in years. I'll never forget it.”

As a staffer from 1958-1962, Ridgecrest Provided that mountain top experience that I needed to put my life on the right track. It was there, as a college student that I made a commitment to my Savior to go where He would lead and do what He would command. I have tried to keep that vow for the past 40+ years in my career, home and Church. Relationships formed there still exist today even though we live miles apart. I will never forget my experiences there and find the Holy Spirit working there every time I return to the campus.”

The BRMCWC (Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers Conference) was a wonderful conference and my first experience at Ridgecrest. I went with a vision of direction and found that the Lord had other ideas that have already proved positive as I published my first submission after attending the conference because of the wonderful faculty led classes and doing my research.”

We were reminded that Psalm 46:10 is essential to our existence - "Be still and know that I am God"! We were reminded that all we need is Him - not all the stuff we think we do.”

As a minister, I needed to get away and focus on God and that's just what I did. Your website made it easy to schedule the ideal time when not many other groups were there. I could not have asked for a better place and I plan on being back. Thank you very much.”

God truly spoke to my wife and I during our time at Ridgecrest. We could not wait to come home and share what we had learned with our friends and answer God's call to become involved in the Marriage Ministry at our church. Keep doing what you are doing. We, the followers of Christ, will serve to change our world, starting at home.”

Through the cooperation of Ridgecrest, we are able each year to host the Woman's Prayer Evangelism Conference. Thanks for what you do to help facilitate this experience.”

I'm sure that you get this a lot. Not having a TV in my room took some getting used to. I didn't really realize how much energy I waste by just having the TV on as background noise as I fall asleep or get ready in the morning. After the first day, I found it wonderful not to have the TV as a distraction. I would read or pray instead of turning on the TV. I think that I will be falling asleep without the TV more often now.”

It has been many years since my family and I attended Ridgecrest. I am now 84 years old and retired, but a lot of fond memories were recalled as I made my way through the website. Pritchell still looks about the same on the outside, but everything else looks so different and modernized, as it should be! Thanks for the spiritual influence and training that Ridgecrest (and Glorieta) had on my family.”

  • Jill Roman Lord Ridgecrest

What a fabulous conference! The faculty present and classes offered were perfect! The music and keynote speakers were moving. The whole aura of the conference was Spirit-filled and Spirit-driven. It never ceases to amaze me how many ‘God appointments’ occur at this conference. I believe that is possible because of the thought and prayer covering each of the details involved. When everything is in place as God planned, I believe He delights in being present in it all. This week at Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers Conference was, no doubt, a highlight of my year, as it was for many others. Thank you for doing such an incredible job and providing an amazing week for such growth and opportunity to occur! May God continue to bless you in all your endeavors”

in 1997 I attended CentriFUGE youth camp at Ridgecrest North Carolina with Lazybrook Baptist Church in Houston Texas. I had previously lost both grandfathers and got caught up in a particular sin. God used my time at camp even to break barriers and to change my life completely. I remember two specific things about my one special week in Ridgecrest, 1.) I recommitted my life to Christ, and 2.) I recieved my initial call into the ministry. I was sixteen years old. Now I am thirty years old about to take on a new ministry in the coming months with my wife, and if it had not been for my attendance of CentriFUGE at Ridgecrest I may not be where I am today. I hope one day to return to Ridgecrest but only God knows when that might be. God truly blessed my time and renewed my faith and walk with Christ through the ministries of Ridgecrest, North Carolina. • Cleveland Daily Banner - Bettie Marlowe Ridgecrest

According to comments from the more than 1,100 delegates, Ridgecrest Conference Center was the ideal location for the annual assembly for The Church of God. Ridgecrest, which is a LifeWay ministry, not only provides facilities for meetings, but it is a “one-stop shop” providing accommodations (with meals) to meet the needs of people for every budget. Lea Dudley of Virginia said this was her first time to attend an assembly. She came to the mainland from Hawaii three years ago and was thrilled she could attend this year. She said she had been hearing about Ridgecrest and was so excited to be here in “this beautiful area.” Katherine Dudley, her sister-in-law, echoed her sentiments. “The rooms are clean,” she said, “the food is good and the service is good — everyone is so helpful.” But conferences and church gatherings are not the only things accommodated at the Christian center. There are plans for individuals, youth groups, small or large groups, ministers’ get-aways, families, senior adults, mission projects and, for the adventuresome, special packages for summer retreats and vacations. For senior adults, a Southern Gospel Springfest is held — usually in April, when the natural beauty of springtime in the Blue Ridge Mountains can be experienced. Whitewater rafting adventure is offered through Nantahala Outdoor Center with lodging and a half-day rafting trip on either the French Broad or Pigeon River. Add to that laser tag or head for the high ropes course. Of course, recreation adventures include hiking trails, Frisbee, fishing and kayaking, also, along with disc golf or miniature golf, which winds along a mountain stream. For youth groups, a ball diamond and tennis, sand volleyball and indoor volleyball and basketball courts are available. And for the daring, there are the rappelling tower, the climbing wall, zip line and a giant swing. Equipment is available for all recreational activities at no charge to guests. The conference center is set in the Asheville/Western North Carolina area — a “Top 10” tourist destination. Nearby are the historic Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock, the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, and Grandfather Mountain. Within minutes, visitors at Ridgecrest can shop at Black Mountain or explore the many festivals scheduled in Asheville. Ridgecrest is eco-friendly. It is committed to protecting the environment by reducing energy consumption and finding alternative ways to minimize the impact on the environment. According to its mission statement, Ridgecrest’s master plan for revitalizing the campus has included making the central campus pedestrian-friendly to encourage guests to walk rather than use vehicles. Or if you don’t want to “move about,” just grab a rocking chair and enjoy the quiet and take in the view of the mountains. Perhaps a visit to the T.W. Wilson Memorial Prayer Garden will be a welcome retreat for those who want to escape — for devotion, reflection and prayer. Groups who are interested in a mission project will find the perfect opportunity at Ridgecrest and are urged to consider the center for a retreat. A local contact provides mission projects for local area churches and ministries. Housing, meals and evening worship take place at Ridgecrest. Getaway packages are available at discount prices for ministers and families. Spend a day, a week or a weekend. Special packages include a Couples Enrichment, Couples Adventure, Father and Son, Mother and Daughter and Pastors Study — a fit for every situation. As Mrs. Dudley observed, along with others who came from the United States and several countries to Ridgecrest for The Church of God Assembly, “the food is good and the service is good — everyone is so helpful.” Many were heard to say, “We enjoy coming here. It’s a great place.” EDITOR’S NOTE: For information about Ridgecrest Conference Center, visit ridgecrestconferencecenter.org or contact Melissa Inman, director of sales and marketing, at 828-669-9048; melissainman@lifeway.com.”

My cousin, Garland Lee Dean, spent the summer of 1961 as a member of the Ridgecrest staff and also served as BSU President at Univ. of New Mexico. As a Navy Co-pilot he died on Mother's Day, May 11, 1964 in the crash of his aircraft off the coast of Rota, Spain. He was only twenty-four years old. Shortly after the announcement of the loss, letters, telephone calls and cards arrived at his parents’ home in Albuquerque. Garland made a tremendous impact not only on his friends, but those he came in contact with,... churches, college students (BSU), and fellow Naval personnel. Garland was a well grounded believer who "walked the talk" and had a profound influence in his short life...and all of it was to the glory of the Lord. P.S. I was at Ridgecrest in June 1964 when when Dr. Ken Chafin was the main speaker. I was returning from picking up Garland's personal items in Jacksonville, FLorida. My memories include it as a beautiful place where God's prescence was evident.”

I'm so excited to return to Ridgecrest after many years to spend our 55th Wedding Aniv. I made a foreign missions commitment there, went to Mars Hill college to begin my studies and was unable to go; but spent many years in missions. Our son gave 22 yrs. to the ministry, came to Ridgecrest on retreats, but the Lord called him home in 2009. So, my commitment still holds, and so do Ridgecrest memories and influence. I'm a retired teacher now and wish every believer could have that Ridgecrest experience. God bless everyone who still labors in the Master's vinegard at dear old Ridgecrest (LifeWay CC). PS: I still have photos from visits there, and the viewer I spent four whole dollars for in 1952 or 53 to keep my memories alive. What a blessing!”

My family and i were there for the no greater joy shindig this weekend. The volunteers won all of our hearts with their warmth and dedication to serving us and making our trip a success. One little lady told my husband and i that she met her husband at a camp at ridgecrest in 1965. I think the volunteers enjoyed their job as much as we enjoyed being there!lol! The cafeteria style food was top notch and again served with a generous helping of friendly hospitality. Thanks to everyone over there for a super experience!!!!”

I came to Ridgecrest age 15, 42 years ago with my Church Youth Group (Clifton Baptist Church, Louisville, KY) It was the most Spirtual experience for me. I still sing a song we learned at camp to my Grandchildren, 42 years later.”

Raleigh North Christian Center in Raleigh, NC hosted our "Respect the Ring 2015" Married Couples Retreat at Ridgecrest. We cannot express enough how appreciative we are for the superb hospitality, excellent accommodations, delicious meals, and high quality, state-of-the-art facilities. We represented 52 married couples in need of escape from the hustle and bustle of life, responsibility of children ages 6 weeks to high school graduates, and business and career demands. Ridgecrest was the perfect venue for this invigorating experience. Nathan and his catering staff met our every need and desire when possible. He was a perfect gentleman! Lindsay and Rose, as well as every staff member with whom we came in contact were simply awesome!! Thank you all for your assistance in making our retreat super successful and absolutely amazing!!!”

I do not know if I have the right facility, but in late August 1969, I was a Cadet Master Sergeant with the Wisconsin Wing of Civil Air Patrol, and was selected to attend the CAP Spiritual Life Conference. During the short time I was in Ridgecrest, NC, I met wonderful people, particulary Jim Perdamo from Satelitte Beach Florida and a young lady from the Hnedersonville, NC Composite Squadron of CAP, whose name I no longer know. I would love to reunite with these people, but, of course, I have no way of finding them. God brought us together for a short time, and we had a wonderful experience. My life has taken many turns, I served in the Navy during Vietnam, married and divorced twice and now have a wonderful life. If I have the right facility, please know I have wonderful memories from the summer of 1969, when I spent a wonderful time in a place called Ridgecrest NC.”
